The DQM Publisher Module provides the critical capability for a relatively small number of information professionals in an enterprise to publish the results of their efforts to a much larger population of individuals who don't want to look for information, but rather need to use that information. The DQM Publisher allows a managed process of harvesting, vetting, and organizing document information into both a subject tree (or taxonomy) structure for browsing, as well as a free-form keyword/metadata search across a potentially large body of information.
The Information Challenge
The infformation challenge encompasses a spectrum from source information -- which is high-volume, highly variable, with low- to average-quality results, and difficult to find and use -- to a document portal that provides the most relative information in an easily understood structure. DQM Publisher achieves this balance as shown below:
The Publisher allows for construction of a subject tree (or taxonomy) potentially containing hundreds or thousands of "nodes" or subject points. Each of these nodes is dynamically populated with relevant documents from the harvested pool. Summaries of the relevant documents are generated, bolding the terms used in the placement process.
Advanced Search
The DQM Publisher also supports an advanced search capability allowing keyword and metadata search, customized to the enterprise's needs. Thus, it is possible for a user to specify one or more keywords and/or phrases in conjunction with metadata such as Author, Source, Format, Date Range, etc. Again, results are scored and ranked, with dynamically generated summaries reflecting the specifics of the query.
Management Center
A key to the successful implementation of a DQM Publisher is the Management Center, which is additional functionality inserted in the familiar DQM user interface, which allows one or more administrators to manage harvesting, design and maintain the subject tree, and develop and maintain lists of keywords and filter terms
