(SIOUX
FALLS, SD) — The information community now has its first search
management power tool. BrightPlanet Corporation, specialists in the
delivery of Deep Web content, today released its newest Enterprise
Product, the Deep Query Manager™
(DQM). The DQM is a personalized browser “power tool” that gives
knowledge workers complete control over their information needs. The
DQM is the first knowledge management tool capable of discovering and
managing all Internet content within their enterprise from tens of
thousands of specialty Deep Web databases as well as standard Web
documents and internal corporate documents.
“Our Deep Query Manager™
provides information and research-intensive enterprises a tool that
will vastly improve the way these enterprises manage the chaos of
information overload,” Thane Paulsen, President of BrightPlanet
Corporation said.
“DQM is designed
for anyone in an information management role,” Paulsen said,
“especially those involved in research, business intelligence, brand
monitoring and knowledge management. It can be built to handle search
profiles from a handful of employees or tens of thousands of users
within the largest corporations.”
The
DQM provides a browser interface accessible from any Internet
connection. It has been extensively tested and has been beta tested by
nationally recognized customers in fields including health, insurance
and government.
BrightPlanet’s Deep Query Manager™
is an Application Service Provider (ASP) that creates customized search
profiles, automatically runs persistent search queries, and enables an
enterprise to share its content with selected departments or across the
entire enterprise.
Automatically run persistent search queries
The DQM is fully automated, so searches can be run immediately, or flexibly scheduled to run at any time or frequency.
Share content with the department or across the enterprise
It
is estimated that enterprises spend nearly $235 billion each year in
staff time looking for information on the Internet — $30 billion of
which is considered wasted by unproductive searching. The DQM
significantly improves productivity because users can share all or
portions of their search results to a central archive. Users have
control of access rights to results.
Customized search profiles
Each
user can create customized search profiles. The user can set the
parameters of their search, filter out unwanted results, and pick their
own search sites from among more than 40,000 specialty sources. The
system can also choose sites automatically based on query context. Each
search profile can be named and saved, so topics can be easily
monitored and tracked.
Local Control
Control
of the DQM is entirely via the user’s browser. The interface uses
simple tabs that allow intuitive access to all its features.
“Knowledge
workers from consultants and scientists to corporate searchers and
brand managers benefit from the DQM, immediately,” Paulsen said. “And
they can test drive it to find out just what it can do for their
enterprise.”
