BrightPlanet Announces DQM v. 1.10 with Differencing Features for Monitoring and Trackling
(SIOUX FALLS, SD) — BrightPlanet™, a provider of business solutions for researching, monitoring and managing surface and Deep Web content, announced an upgrade of its Deep Query Manager™ (DQM) to version 1.10. The upgrade enhancements include: difference reporting, Web surfing capabilities, annotation functions, e-mail alerts, and several user enhancements.

"These enhancements significantly extend the DQM into a comprehensive platform for monitoring and tracking information," Mike Bergman, BrightPlanet's CTO said. "Our customers have been requesting these capabilities and now they can easily monitor technology topics, competitors, RFP bid sites, news, job openings, or even generate their own press clippings."

Difference Reporting

Difference reporting instantly identifies the documents that are different between one harvest run and any other. From all the Internet content found and saved in two separate folders, the report shows which documents are new, modified, absent or unchanged. This is particularly valuable for tracking or monitoring when comparing sequential harvests or search results, such as last week's and this week's.

"This is a huge productivity boost when tracking or monitoring, since you only need to review a few rather than the entire harvest of hundreds or thousands of documents," Thane Paulsen, President of BrightPlanet said. "It is a significant time saver for information professionals responsible for news updates, employment services, competitive intelligence and brand monitoring."

"Difference reporting also offers other benefits, such as comparing two harvests using different queries. You can compare results using modified queries, different engine groups or filter groups to determine the effectiveness of each."

Web Surfing

At any time, grab and add an Internet document that you have found to a DQM folder of your choosing - even when not actively using DQM. Many Internet Web pages are not indexed by any search engine. With this Web Surfing feature, users can save any discovered documents in their DQM folders no matter when or where valuable Web information is found. Users simply click the DQM Web Surfer button on their browser's personal toolbar.

Other Enhancements

Email notification provides an alert when a search harvest has completed. When users check email after returning from a meeting, appointment, business travel, or vacation, they will find the alerts - one for each completed search run. This is also helpful for users that schedule searches to run periodically (such as daily or weekly) and for users checking email while traveling.

Enhanced user settings allow users to further customize their DQM work area to make their searches more productive such as the way results are displayed, the maximum number of results displayed per page, or whether results are sorted by relevance score, title or URL.

An Annotation feature allows users to add notes and comments to their work to highlight or explain especially important items.

DQM Success

BrightPlanet's Deep Query Manager™ has been widely and well received by a number of organizations and corporations including NATO, Lawrence Livermore National Labs and Delta Faucet Company. These three enterprises were early beta testers of the DQM and have now become customers. There is a growing understanding that today's knowledge workers need to better access and manage information; especially with the ever-growing availability of public information over the Internet. Today, content management is a mission-critical responsibility.

The DQM is a personalized browser "power platform" that gives knowledge workers complete control over their information needs. The DQM is the first knowledge management platform capable of discovering and managing all Internet content within their enterprise from tens of thousands of specialty Deep Web databases as well as standard Web documents and internal corporate documents.
