(SIOUX FALLS, SD)---BrightPlanet™ Corporation,
a leader in comprehensive harvesting and knowledge management of unstructured
and semi-structured data, has released Version 2.2 of the Deep Query Manager™
(DQM). The DQM is a search and information management workspace that automates
the discovery, processing and organizing of on-line information from all
publicly accessible databases and search engines.
“These new features are significant upgrades that have been requested
by customers, integrators and prospects,” Mike Bergman, BrightPlanet’s
Chief Technology Officer said. “The five features will make the
DQM an even more powerful research tool and make it even easier to use.”
THE FIVE FEATURES
• Direct Text Access and Display
Users can now directly access and display actual text of all documents
downloaded by DQM. The document text is stored on the DQM server, so all
documents captured by the DQM are available to a user even if the original
is removed from the Web site where it originated.
• Compare Results Sets AND Track Changes
DQM users have been able to compare results sets for some time. Now in
addition to identifying documents as new, modified, absent or unchanged,
the DQM will show what has been added or deleted on the modified documents.
• Harvest PDF Files
The DQM now harvests PDF files in addition to HTML documents while performing
Deep and Site harvests.
• Domain Filtering Capability
Include or exclude documents by the originating site, sub-domain, subdirectory,
and file type. Domain filtering makes it easier to exclude sites that
offer little informational value but have pages that contain a user’s
query terms.
• Harvest Web Pages of Links
Called external link following, this feature is part of Site Harvest.
It allows users to enter the URL of Web documents that are essentially
lists of links. DQM then follows each URL and harvests from that point
down the list, limited by the maximum documents and maximum depth settings.
“In addition to these improvements, we have also
added a stop button to the DQM,” Bergman said. “When a user
selects a Running Harvest he or she can click the ‘Stop’ button
and the DQM will stop the harvest.”
