BrightPlanet Forms Alliance with Factiva
RELEASED: October 23, 2006

(SIOUX FALLS, SD) --- BrightPlanet® Corporation (www.brightplanet.com), the leader in document harvest and management, today announced the formation of a strategic alliance with Factiva®, a Dow Jones and Reuters company and leading provider of news and information, to provide significantly improved data access to BrightPlanet’s customers specifically in the government sector. As a key element of this collaboration, BrightPlanet has released a new Factiva Access Module, allowing seamless integration of Factiva’s content into BrightPlanet’s Deep Query Manager™ (DQM) software.

“Our collaboration with BrightPlanet supports Factiva’s strategy to provide the intelligence and defense sector with information they need to make better decisions faster,” Tony Hall, Factiva’s Director of Global Government Sector said. “Additionally, working with BrightPlanet will extend our presence by bringing a high-quality solution and premium content to more government offices while also providing them actionable intelligence.”
BrightPlanet's DQM is an automated search platform that "harvests" from search engines, directories and databases as it scours the Deep Web and the surface web. As part of this alliance, BrightPlanet has introduced the Factiva Access Module, which directly integrates the full range of Factiva news and information, including embedded metadata, into the DQM, and federates that information with open-source information from Internet and intranet sources. This new integration allows customers of both companies to have significantly enhanced capabilities for harvesting, integrating, and understanding information.

"The Deep Query Manager already provides exceptionally comprehensive access to Internet, intranet, and file system documents,” Duncan Witte, President and COO of BrightPlanet, said. “Factiva adds a huge source of concise, broad-based, high-quality information from respected sources. Working together, we provide a perfect match for the needs of our government and commercial clients.”
