BrightPlanet’s technology development has consistently and successfully operated under the direction of a strategic development plan and is a process that continues. The previous three-year plan embraced major initiatives in internationalization (non-English language) support, a distributed architecture for enterprise-level deployments, massive scalability and other functional, code-level, and user interface enhancements. That plan was completed at the end of 2005. Beginning in 2006, a new strategic plan was adopted. Some aspects of the major initiatives in that new plan are described under the Research link.

BrightPlanet’s technology legacy extends to pre-Internet commercialization, leveraging expertise in structured data and data warehousing. All BrightPlanet products use a common, modular code base. All critical aspects of the technology have been developed directly by the company. Major pieces of BrightPlanet technology have been constantly refined through new versions over eight years. The experience and technology improvements gained from these efforts are a key source of competitive advantage for the company.
